Congratulations to Canyon High School student-athletes Bella Alcala, Hannah Goodman, Blake Hartfelder, Caroline Hicks, Ryan Lathiya, Alex Lundsberg, Alyssa Olguin, Cali Penilla, Ryley Piche, and Roxana Williamson on signing to play at the collegiate level.

 

Bella Alcala – Softball

Sacred Heart University

 

Bella Alcala has been a four year Varsity Softball player at Canyon High School.  Bella will be attending Sacred Heart University on an academic scholarship, and will be majoring in Dental Hygiene. Bella’s athletic accomplishments include being a starter her freshman year, playing anywhere the team needed her to play, and being an integral part of the 2024 Crestview League Championship team that made it to the CIF quarterfinals in 2024.  Bella is also an outstanding student who has been recognized as a Scholar Athlete and Top of the Tribe.  Bella says her favorite memory at Canyon was, “Getting ready with friends before school dances and football games.” Bella’s family is with her  today, and she would like to give a special thanks to her mom for always pushing her to be her best, her dad for always supporting her, and her sister for always being by her side.  She would also like to thank all of her teammates for helping her grow.

  

Hannah Goodman – Golf 

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay

 

Hannah Goodman is a four year Varsity golfer at Canyon High School.   Hannah will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on athletic and academic scholarships, and will be majoring in Criminal Justice.  In her four years of varsity golf, Hannah helped lead Canyon to 3 league titles, and 4 appearances in the team round of CIF.  She has also qualified for CIF individuals 2 times.  Hannah has been a 2 year team Golf Captain, and has been selected 2nd Team All League three years and 1st Team All League once.  Hannah also represents Golf on the athletic council and is an outstanding student who has maintained a 4.38 GPA and been a Scholar Athlete and Top of the Tribe all four years.  Hannah says her  favorite memory was, “Traveling for CIF every year with her team and making fun memories in new places.”  Hannah’s parents are here and she would like to thank them and let them know that she is super grateful for all of the sacrifices they have made for her to be here.”

 

 

Blake Hartfelder – Soccer

Pomona College 

 

Blake Hartfelder is a four year Varsity Striker for the Canyon High School Soccer team.  Blake was also an outstanding kicker for our football team.  Blake will be attending Pomona College on an academic scholarship and will be Majoring in Economics with a Minor in Political Science.  Blake excelled at both soccer and football at Canyon.  As a captain of the soccer team he has helped lead Canyon’s team to 3 League titles, and 3 CIF Quarter Final Appearances.  Blake was also recognized as Canyon’s CIF Male Athlete of Character this year.  In addition to his athletic accomplishments Blake is an outstanding student who has been a Scholar Athlete and Top of the Tribe all four years. Blake’s Favorite memory at Canyon was, “Scoring the winning goal vs Tustin his freshman year to get his spot on varsity and celebrating with the whole team.”  Blake would like to thank his mom, dad, and brother, and would also like to give a special thanks to his best friends Blake, Ryler, Macoy, Creek, and Dylan.   

 

 

Caroline Hicks- Soccer

California State University, Fullerton

 

Caroline Hicks has been a four year Varsity Forward for Canyon’s Soccer Team.  She has also been an elite varsity flag football player and track athlete at Canyon.  Caroline will be attending California State University, Fullerton on an athletic scholarship.  Caroline helped lead Canyon’s Soccer program to the CIF Quarter Finals last season and a Crestview League Championship this year.  Caroline was recognized as the Offensive Player of the Year for her team and the league last season and was selected First Team All Crestview League.  As an elite 3 sport athlete Caroline was also Canyon’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2025. Caroline’s favorite memory at Canyon was the CIF run last season with the 2025 team. Caroline wants to give a special thanks to her parents and all her friends for their overwhelming love and support. Also, she wants to thank coach Segovia, Mo, Demian, Kellan, and Jackie for every opportunity they have given her, and to her high school coaches for their guidance and support.

 

Ryan Lathiya- Track and Field

New York University

 

Ryan Lathiya has been a three year Varsity sprinter for Canyons Track and Field Team.  Ryan will be running track at NYU and will be attending the Stern School of Business and majoring in Finance.  Ryan has been an elite runner at Canyon who was given the Coach’s Award as a freshman, and was recognized as the Varsity Sprints MVP as a sophomore and junior and was the Crestview League Sprints MVP as a junior.  Ryan has run the second fastest 100m time in Canyon history and the 3rd fastest 400m time in Canyon history.  Ryan has also excelled in the classroom receiving Top of the Tribe and Scholar Athlete honors all four years at Canyon.  Ryan’s favorite memory at Canyon was, “Winning the League 4×400 with his team Junior Year.”   Ryan would like to thank his Mom and Dad, his brother Deven, and his sister Bella, for being his biggest supporters and his biggest fans. He would also like to give a special thanks to Coach Sam for always believing in him, and for the impact he made in developing Ryan’s skills and mindset.

 

Alex Lundsberg- Lacrosse

Newberry College

 

Alex Lundsberg has been a four year Varsity defenseman for the Canyon Boys Lacrosse Team.  Alex is also the starting quarterback for Canyon’s football team.  Alex will be playing Lacrosse at Newberry College on athletic and academic scholarships and will be studying Criminal Justice.  As a quarterback, Alex is 2nd in career completions, attempts, yards, and touchdowns in Canyon History.  On the lacrosse field, Alex is an elite defender who has caused 62 turnovers and had 110 ground balls. He has even scored a goal and had 5 assists which is rare for a defender.  Alex was recognized as the 2025 Defensive Player of the Year.  Alex is also an excellent student who has been recognized as Top of the Tribe and Scholar Athlete all four years at Canyon.  Alex’s favorite memory at Canyon was the bus ride to Cate high school his Sophomore year.  Alex would like to thank his coach for pushing him and his parents for letting him play this sport.

 

Alyssa Olguin- Softball

Azusa Pacific University

 

Alyssa Olguin  has been a four year varsity player for the Canyon Softball Team.  Alyssa will be attending Azusa Pacific on an academic scholarship, and will be majoring in Business Marketing. Alyssa helped lead Canyon to the 2023 League Championship, and has been recognized as a Scholar Athlete and Top of the Tribe all four years.  Alyssa says her favorite memory is, “Hitting the game winning walk off home run in Bullhead City.”  Alyssa would like to give a huge thanks to her mom Desiree for always being her biggest supporter and always showing up and keeping her accountable.  She would also like to thank her brother Ryan for always coming to her games even when he didn’t want to and her dad Danny for always taking her to her lessons even when they were over an hour away, and finally Alyssa would like to give a big thanks to her family for always supporting her, she wants them to know that she loves them all so much. 

 

Cali Penilla- Lacrosse

Davenport University

 

Cali Penilla is a two year varsity midfielder for Canyon’s Lacrosse team.  Cali will be attending Davenport University on athletic and academic scholarships and will be majoring in Legal Studies. Cali is the captain of our Girls Lacrosse team and helped lead Canyon to a CIF Quarter Finals appearance in 2025.  She was the 2024 Player of the Year and the 2024 Offensive Player of the Year.  Cali is also an outstanding student and has been a Scholar Athlete all four years at Canyon.  Cali’s Favorite Memories at Canyon, “Were the bus rides to and from away games with the 2025 team last year, and also her sophomore year walking to vons to get chicken tenders and starbucks with her best friend Lily and eating them in the locker room watching Netflix 

before practice.”  Cali’s whole family is here with her today; her mom, dad, step parents, her 7 brothers, her grandparents, her uncle and aunts, and her cousins  and she would like to thank them all for their support.  Cali would also like to thank her Lacrosse teammates who are here to support her, and she would like to give a special thanks to her Mom for always pushing her to her limits, not only in school but in lacrosse as well.”   

 

Ryley Piche- Soccer

Colorado Mesa University

 

Ryley Piche has been a four year varsity defender for the Canyon Girls Soccer Team.  Ryley will be attending Colorado Mesa on athletic and academic scholarships and will be majoring in Kinesiology.  Ryley is a team captain and has helped lead the soccer program to a CIF Quarter Finals appearance last year and a League Championship this season.  Ryley was chosen as 2nd Team All League last season.  In addition to Ryley’s accomplishments on the field, she has also excelled in the classroom where she has been a Scholar Athlete and Top of the Tribe all four years.  She has been chosen as Student of the Month and is also a member of the Athletic Council, an ASB Ambassador, and a member of the National Honors Society.  Ryley’s favorite memory at Canyon was, “Beating Newport Harbor in the 2nd Round of CIF.”  Ryley’s parents are with her today, and she would like to give a special thanks to her mom, dad, and sister for being her biggest supporters and to her coaches and teammates for always believing in her.  

 

 

Roxana Williamson- Lacrosse

Beloit College

 

Roxana Williamson has been a two year varsity defensive player for Canyon’s Girls Lacrosse team.  Roxana will be attending Beloit College on an academic scholarship and will be majoring in Nursing.  Roxana is an outstanding lacrosse defender and was recognized with the Heart of a Champion award and was Honorable Mention all League.  Roxana is also an outstanding student and has been a Scholar Athlete all four years.  Roxana’s favorite memory at Canyon, “Was the bus ride back from the last game of the season last year.”  Roxana would like to give a special thank you to her Mom, Dad, and Brother, and to her coaches for supporting her.
